British cat is a one of biggest home cats. It achieve weight from 6 to 8 kg. Male is much larger than the female (4 - 6 kg). The face is round with full cheeks and the nose is short and broad. The chin is deep and strong. The ears are small and rounded and set so as to blend with the round contour of the head. The eyes are large and round. The head is set on a short thick neck. The body is cobby with a short level back. The chest is deep and the shoulders are strong. The legs are short and strong with round paws. The tail is thick and of medium length. These cats have a balanced character, are cheerful, intelligent, bright.
They don't need a lot of living space. Exhibit well-developed maternal instinct and conscientiously care for their children. The most popular British cats coat color is blue. Standards require a uniform greyish-blue with no white or silver hair, and no evidence of striations. Acceptable are all shades of blue,
but on the exhibitions are preferred the brightest-colored cats. Nose leather and paw pads should be blue, and copper or orange eyes. Tortie varieties are particularly attractive in a shade of reddish. Plots of red, cream and black must be properly arranged and clearly demarcated from each other. cats exist not only with a black color, but also with chocolate, lilac and blue. British cats with colorful signs (colourpoint) - mouth, ears, paws and tail are different coloration from the rest of the body. These cats have, regardless of color variety, blue eyes.
